Senior Architect

Jennifer has recently returned to PBA after 18 years of extensive experience in the residential, education and leisure sectors. She initially spent two years working at PBA; after graduating from the University of Strathclyde with a Masters Degree in Advanced Architectural design, where her interest in historic buildings began. Since that time, her career has spanned across a wide range of projects, including contemporary and traditional buildings.

Jennifer enjoys working closely with clients and has a wealth of experience of providing architectural solutions for challenging projects. She respects the historic significance of existing buildings, while also adopting a modern approach to new interventions where appropriate.

Jennifer has aslo recently become an adrenaline junkie, completing a 15,000ft freefall skydive!

Oliver Burgess

Associate + Conservation Architect

BSc MSc March PGDip ARB RIBA CA

Oliver studied at the Welsh School of Architecture, where he completed his RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 qualifications, before completing his Part 3 qualifications at the University of Brighton. Oliver is an RIBA Accredited Conservation Architect and recently completed an MSc in Building Conservation at the Weald and Downland Living Museum, validated by the University of York, gaining a distinction. He is a Conservation Architect and joined Peregrine Bryant Architects in 2016. He was made an associate of the practice in 2023.

Prior to working at PBA, Oliver worked for design-led practices in Surrey, Brighton and Zurich on a diverse range of residential and educational schemes across all RIBA stages. Oliver has worked on numerous historically significant buildings including the running and contract administration of many projects involving Grade II, II* and I listed buildings and scheduled monuments. He is presently working on the conservation and remodelling of a Grade I listed private house in Oxfordshire, a private house in Kensington and working with the London Historic Buildings Trust and Enfield Council to find a new use for a Grade II listed chapel in Enfield. Previous projects include working with historic residential estates in Oxordshire, Devon and Derbyshire, the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Markers, The William Morris Society, and the Royal Hospital Chelsea on their John Soane Stable Block, their Hobbies Building and Storage and Staff Pavilion.

A keen member of several amenity groups and societies, his passion for making and traditional craftsmanship has led to a holistic approach to architectural design, with an interest in the user-experience of spaces and a keen eye for detail. He is also passionate about landscape and using an understnading of the physical and cultural context of buildings to inform change. Oliver is developing a specialism in historic windows and joinery, and has extensive knowledge of using sustainable, natural and breathable materials to retrofit historic structures.

Peregrine Bryant

Consultant

Peregrine studied at Cambridge University under Sir Leslie Martin. Having worked for many years as a partner in Benson & Bryant, in 1994 he set up Peregrine Bryant Architecture & Building Conservation. Peregrine is an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation, a Crown Estate Approved Architect and on the approved list of the London Diocesan Council. He is also a member of ASCHB, SPAB, the Georgian Group, The Victorian Society, Icomos, The World Monuments Fund, the Friends of the Georgian Society of Jamaica, the Franco-British Union of Architects, the Surveyors Club, and a Trustee of the St Endellion Festivals Trust. Peregrine has enjoyed a long standing relationship with many of his clients, some for over thirty years. Such continuing relationships are a testament to the practice and to the quality of work at Peregrine Bryant and enable both client and architect to work together successfully to the benefit of the building.

Paul Chatham

Director + Conservation Architect

Since before qualifying as an architect in 1997, Paul has been passionate about building conservation. He has gained wide-ranging experience managing, procuring, and delivering complex conservation projects of various types and sizes, with values from £20,000 to £20 million. He has led conservation projects through all RIBA work stages, providing a full traditional service. Recognised for his strengths in contract administration and delivering conservation projects on site, he also works increasingly as a heritage consultant and dealing with complex planning and listed building consent applications. He is particularly interested in late medieval and early modern buildings, and in timber framed buildings.

Paul holds postgraduate qualifications in building conservation and is an RIBA-accredited specialist conservation architect. Early in his career he completed CEM’s postgraduate diploma in conservation receiving a distinction. More recently he completed an MA in Archaeology and Heritage at the University of Leicester receiving a distinction. Before this he completed an MSc in Timber Building Conservation at the Weald and Downland Living Museum, validated by York University, and prior to that, West Dean College’s Professional Development Diploma in Historic Building Conservation and Repair. He also holds postgraduate qualifications in Urban Design and dispute resolution (Arbitration and Adjudication) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

In 2018 he became a member of the RIBA Conservation Advisory Group. Having been a member for c.20 years he was elected a SPAB Guardian in 2019. He has long been a member of ASCHB. He has tutored and examined for Westminster and Bath Universities on their part 3 course and has lectured on practicing as a conservation architect for Westminster University, the NBS and RIBA, including speaking at RIBA’s Guerrilla Tactics in 2020. In 2018 he was the London region conservation advisor for the RIBA Regional Awards.

Stanislava Elincheva

Interior Architecture and Design

Stanislava received a Master Engineer (Interior and Furniture Design) degree from the University of Forestry, Sofia, Bulgaria. She joined Peregrine Bryant Architecture in 2007 and has extensive experience in different types of commercial and residential projects. These include the redecoration of the Grade I Listed Traveller’s Club, the design and specification for the New Library and theatre at St. Helen and St. Katharine’s School in Abingdon, the refurbishment of number of listed town houses on St James’s Square, Cheyne Walk, Kensington and Chelsea, London as well as various of country houses. She returned to working on Royal Hospital Chelsea, designing future-proof New Hobby Building Premises, including full FF & E. Most recently she has been working on a Refurbishment and a Complete Bespoke Furniture package for Haseley Court- Great I Listed Building, previously owned by Nancy Lancaster with the only listed Interiors in the country.

Before moving to the UK Stanislava ran her own interior design studio in Bulgaria, managing and designing projects including hotels, private houses and holiday resorts, all from conception to completion.

Her approach to work is to create environmentally conscious design, tailored and timeless schemes with a signature elegant and luxurious style with attention to quality, detail and the merit of combining form, light and colour in a most harmonious way.

Nabiha Fatima

Architectural Conservation Consultant

Nabiha is a registered architect with the Council of Architecture in India who specializes in Architectural Conservation. She earned her master’s degree in this field from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi in 2022 after completing her bachelor’s in architecture from GGSIPU, New Delhi, in 2018. Nabiha also has additional certifications in Architectural Conservation and Historic Preservation from IIT Kharagpur. Throughout her professional journey, Nabiha has worked on heritage sites in North India and a UNESCO site in Myanmar. Her contributions to UNESCO award-winning projects include the Adaptive reuse of Rambagh Gate as part of HRIDAY Amritsar at CRCI India. She is a Young Professional Member of ICOMOS and has volunteered at events such as the 19th General Assembly in 2017.

Recently, Nabiha moved to the United Kingdom and joined PBA where she is assisting with the Winchester House Club and other projects, including Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
Her dedication to preserving architectural heritage is evident through her discovery of a historic well in India that had not been mapped before.

James Hall

Director

James studied at Leeds and the University of Bath. He worked previously designing and organising exhibitions at Dulwich Picture Gallery. Since joining the Practice, James has worked on a wide variety of listed buildings in London and the South, including Belmont [Kent], 15 St James’ Square, Mappercombe Manor, and more recently James Macneill Whistler’s house at Cheyne Walk, Chelsea.

James has also provided ongoing conservation and design advice to a number of organisations including The Landmark Trust, Vivat Trust, and several of the Clubs of St James’. He is a member of ASCHB and The London Sketch Club.

Emma Lomax

Senior Architect + Conservation Architect

Emma qualified as an Architect from the University of Huddersfield in 2011 and developed an interest in heritage projects early in her career. Over the past 10 years, she has gained considerable experience working on traditionally procured, historically sensitive projects. She achieved a Post Graduate Diploma in Building Conservation and Regeneration in 2016 and became an RIBA accredited conservation architect in 2018.

Emma remains passionate about delivering high-quality, contemporary and sustainable designs within historically sensitive environments and likes to promote the importance of maintaining the significance of our heritage buildings through adaptive reuse. Emma recently joined Peregrine Bryant and is very much looking forward to working with the team.

Nick Mamoany

Senior Architect

Nick studied at the Newcastle University where he completed his Part 1 and 2, later gaining his professional qualifications in 2004 from Leeds Metropolitan University.

Previous roles include working as a project architect in London and Yorkshire. Nick has worked in numerous sectors: residential, commercial, community and healthcare, with project values ranging from a few hundred thousand to £20 million+. His work has included overseeing the development of new build, high-end residential and Grade II listed building work.

Nick is technically astute with a passion for built history and understands how buildings are made. Seeking to steer his career in the direction of conservation he completed an MSc in Building Conversation (2021, Validated by York University). Shortly after completing this, he joined Peregrine Bryant Architects in (2023).

Nick is currently the project architect for Mandinam Estate and has been with the practice for over a year.

He sees the enhancement of his knowledge in conservation as essential to his continuing development. he regularly reads up on subjects and undertakes training courses run by SPAB.

Nick is an enthusiastic cyclist, completing a 4-month tour of the south Indian temples on his bike in 2009. He still embarks on travels with his family whenever possible. He is a member of RIBA, ARB and SPAB.

Laura Morgante

Director + Conservation Architect

Laura studied architecture at La Sapienza University and Conservation at The Conservation of Monuments School in Rome. She is registered as an architect in Great Britain (RIBA and ARB) and Italy and is a registered Conservation Architect on the RIBA register.

She practiced in Italy from 1996 to 2000 and worked on a number of listed buildings, among them several buildings damaged by the 1998 earthquake in Umbria and Marche. In 2000 she joined a group of architects, lead by Prof. Giovanni Carbonara on a conservation project of the Mediaeval Cloister of Ss. Quattro Coronati Monastery in Rome listed within the 100 Most Endangered Sites by the World Monuments Watch.

Lauras interests lie in the analysis of the history of buildings and their degree of conservation, which are key instruments in the preservation of historic and artistic integrity of monuments.

Catalina Stroe

Part II

Catalina joined Peregrine Bryant Architects in 2019 after completing her BArch at the University of Westminster, including a semester at the University of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing. She is now enrolled in the Level 7 Architect Apprenticeship at the University of Bath and recently completed her RIBA Part 2 studies receiving her MArch diploma with Upper Second-Class Honours. Studying through an apprenticeship allowed her to continue work at the practice whilst completing her studies. She has now started working towards gaining her Part 3 diploma which she will complete in 2026.

Within the practice, Catalina has worked on various projects involving listed buildings, including a new built extension for Stationer’s Hall, (Grade I), and restoration works at Royal Hospital Chelsea Stable Block (Grade II*). She has been a key component in the team, supporting the lead architect of each project and ensuring there is good communication between all consultants, which she considers key to a successful project. Catalina brings a passion for conservation and historical buildings, as well as a critical perspective on how the built environment can affect well-being and experience. Catalina has helped bring debate about sustainability into the practice and is responsible for organising in house CPDs.

Helena Tunbridge

Associate

BA(Hons), MArchD, PG Cert, ARB, RIBA

Helena began working with Peregrine Bryant Architects in 2017 and throughout her 7 years has developed well-rounded experience working on and delivering complex conservation projects for a wide range of clients and in 2023 was made an associate. She has assisted with and since qualifying as an architect in 2021 been responsible for administering building contracts of various types and sizes, with values from £20,000 to £7 million.

Helena studied at the Oxford School of Architecture, Oxford Brookes where she developed a keen interest in conservation and regenerative architecture. As part of her part II specialisation, she undertook a trip to India where working with the community, designed a project that both incorporated the recycling of waste and encouraged a connection back with the surrounding heritage monuments. Key motivations were to highlight reuse and create new ways to utilise what was pre-existing whilst providing the community with new revenue streams and improved living conditions. This research project earned an honourable mention in the Emerging Talent Category at the INTBAU Excellence awards in 2016 and the only student entry to receive an award.

Prior to and since qualifying, Helena has worked within a conservation setting at a number of architectural and engineering practices. She is currently applying for accreditation as an RIBA conservation architect, the majority of projects Helena works on are listed and historic buildings, requiring complex listed building consents and planning applications. Helena has amassed considerable experience of contributing to and overseeing conservation projects through all RIBA work stages, which has gained planning and listed building consent approvals in complex situations. She’s a valued Project Architect and member of both the studio and project teams and considers communication a key component to a successful project.

Notable projects worked on include: The Deanery and St Georges Chapel at Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace Tijou Screen, Handel Hendrix House Museum which was nominated for Georgian Group and RICS awards, Ramsbury Manor Estate including Courtyard Buildings, Reroofing the Manor and gaining complex permissions for an Exhibition Centre and new Estate Yard, Nursemaids Tunnel for the Crown Estate Paving Commission and Hospital of St Cross Alm House of Nobel Poverty.
