Stationers’ Hall holds a treasure trove of interesting fixtures and fittings we are keen to keep and reuse in the new scheme. The parquet flooring in the library was installed in the post-war rebuilding and has gained a beautiful patina through decades of use. This is being carefully lifted and retained for reuse in the hall. Similarly, the plaster niches in the Anteroom, doors, ironmongery and decorative glazing will be removed for reuse. We hope this will enhance the new scheme and be a small nod towards a more sustainable approach to construction.

A historic label was discovered pinned to the underside of the Great Hall floor beams during strip out. The label, the name of  well-known diary maker Charles Letts, had been covered by a suspended ceiling and layers of plasterboard. The Stationers’ Company has reached out to the Letts of London’s archive to see if they can uncover their involvement in the previous renovation works.
